After watching the media fiasco surrounding Rep. Anthony Weiner regarding an element of his personal life that was made public for disingenuous political gain by noted slimeball and insufferable douchebag Andrew Breitbart, I have reached a breaking point.
I'm beside myself that Nancy Pelosi is wasting government resources to launch an ethics investigation into her colleague who has served the United States House of Representatives honorably and has done nothing illegal.
Yes, what he did was stupid. Yes, what he did was incredibly unfair to his wife. Was it illegal? Did it affect his ability to lead as an effective member of Congress? Is it our business to know what goes on in the personal life of an elected official? No. No. No.
I have long been a fan of The Gentleman from New York, and although I question what went through his mind when he got involved in twexting (combo of sexting/tweeting?), I still believe in him as a voice of the Progressive movement. If you listen to his House Floor speeches, if you pay close attention to the legislation he has introduced and supported, if you've ever been to his district and met some of his constituents, you know how effective he is for the good of the people.
I refuse to allow the media and the childish, disingenuous politicians and pundits to tarnish his Congressional record and simply ignore his achievements.
A good friend of mine: Gorgeous, talented, whip-smart, and rationally-thinking human being @DCDebbie wrote a piece on Alan Colmes' Liberaland titled "Top 10 Reasons Why I'm Standing by My Man, Rep Weiner." I strongly encourage you to read this and allow yourself to think independently and see the other side of the issue.
